Nintendo Not On Board With Virtual Reality Hardware
For the last few generations of gaming, the focus has been on better graphics and the ever growing online community. But recently, a push for Virtual Reality has gotten the attention of many a company. What was once just the Oculus has now grown with Microsoft’s Hololens and Sony’s Project Morpheus. Yet Nintendo, a company who actually dominated the last console war through the use of motion control technology, apparently isn’t game on joining in this race. Speaking with Polygon at E3, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime stated why he and Nintendo, at present, aren’t on board with VR. “What we believe is that, in order for this technology to move forward, you need to make it fun and you need to make it social,” Fils-Aime explained. “I haven’t walked the floor, so I can’t say in terms of what’s on the floor today, but at least based on what I’ve seen to date, it’s not fun, and it’s not social.
