Sony promised last fall that, at some point in 2019, users of the Playstation Network (PSN) would be allowed to change their screennames at last. Today is the day — the option is a go! Up to this point, the name you entered as your Playstation Network ID was the one you would have forever, unless you were willing to start over and lose all the digital games and cloud saves tied to that account. Why didn’t Sony allow name changes from the get-go? Because it apparently isn’t as simple to implement as it appears. Since they didn’t build this feature in from the beginning, every game produced before April 1, 2018 does not natively support it. It’s confirmed — Playstation 4 software revision 6.10 will introduce, for the first time, the ability to change your Playstation Network ID name. It’s been a demanded feature for ages, but unlike their competition, Sony’s never allowed it. Unfortunately, we may be finding out why. E-mails are now being sent out to random PSN users to test the feature, and they’re receiving a LOT of warnings ahead of time. Because not only is Tron Bonne a great game, it is THE most sought-after Playstation One game in all of eBay, and it has been that way for several years. Loose opened copies of it often sell for $200, and it still tops the list of most expensive collectible PS1 games you can search for. PSN is selling it for $6. The sudden affordability of the game is unlikely to affect its physical market value, if EarthBound is any indication. Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be released digitally on the PlayStation 3 via PSN on December 16. It will cost you $19.99 and take 30 GB of space on your hard drive.  Originally released in 2008, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is set in a battle-scarred future where huge conglomerates fight for supremacy using mercenaries. This financed battlefield is seen through the battle-weary eyes of an older Solid Snake who has been charged with infiltrating a number of key locations across the globe, including the Middle East and South America. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is confirmed for 2015, so playing through MGS 4 would be the perfect opportunity to get you excited before it launches.

PSN Will Be Down For Maintenance On Monday

Sony has announced that the PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance for six hours on Monday, November 17. It will be down from approximately 9:00 am to 3:00 pm PST, which will be 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm EST. If you’ve been logged into PSN since November 13, you’ll be able to play games online and access entertainment apps, but you won’t be able to get into the PlayStation Store, Account Management, or Account Registration. Regarding what they’ll be doing during the maintenance, Sony stated that they will be deploying a series of back-end improvements to the network.

Bloodborne Alpha Test Invitations Being Sent Out

Check your inbox, as Sony has begun sending out alpha test invitations for Bloodborne.  According to some players, Sony has sent the invitations out via PSN. There is no word what the criteria is to receive an invitation, but you should keep an eye out just in case. If you didn’t receive an invite to the alpha test, no worries, Sony is allowing players to register on the PSN website, which will give you a chance to be selected.  Sony did not reveal when the alpha test will take place, but Bloodborne is expected to launch on February 5, 2015 in Japan. Telltale Games has announced the release dates for “No Going Back,” the fifth and final episode of the second season of The Walking Dead. Episode 5 will be released on August 26 for PC and Mac worldwide, and PlayStation 3 and PS Vita for North America. It will be available on the Xbox 360 worldwide and on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in Europe the next day on August 27. The episode will also hit iOS devices on August 28. Ubisoft has been breaking records in game development for years, and I’ve always been excited to see what new and unique experiences they bring to their players. Their newest Tom Clancy title “The Division” is currently being developed at Ubisoft Massive using the Snowdrop Engine, which if you have not seen, check it out below; it’s borderline amazing. Already pushed back once from Q3 back to Q4 of 2014, new reports of a delay were given to Gamereactor during a interview with an anonymous staff member It will most likely not even see a release until 2015, my educated guess is around the Q2-Q3 time frame for the game.Even if it falls short of anything other than the amazing gameplay that we’ve seen thus far, I’m sure its well worth the wait.
