Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in 2013. That was seven years ago, so surely we should be hearing something about GTA6 very soon, right? Think again. According to a new report from industry watchdog Jason Schreier, pre-production has only just begun on the next Grand Theft Auto game. “Rockstar’s next big project is still early in development,” Schreier reports.
There was once a time when we’d hear about the next GTA almost immediately after the release of the last one. There was once a console that got to enjoy three GTA games in one generation. Unfortunately that was the PS2, all the way back in the early 2000s. Nowadays the money isn’t in sequels, it’s in keeping the present game going into infinity through services like GTA Online.
It looks like Rockstar may be working on a remaster of their detective game L.A. Noire. According to multiple sources that have spoken to ComicBook.com, the title is a brand new version of the game that will feature an integrated first-person mode (like with the next generation version of Grand Theft Auto V). The reports state that the title will release for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
A New York state court has today thrown out a lawsuit by Lindsay Lohan and Karen Gravano, who were attempting to sue Take-Two as they believed that their likenesses had been used without their permission in Grand Theft Auto V.
A leaked map from the game is allegedly genuine according to various sources. The image, which first saw its way onto NeoGAF before being removed by the original poster, appeared to show a number of new areas and locations. However, many forum users were skeptical of whether it was genuine. TechRadar though have spoken to a well-placed insider at Rockstar Games who has verified that the map is genuine and is from a recent build of the title.
While Rockstar have done an excellent job of keeping Grand Theft Auto V fresh and updated with a variety of new content since it was released, it has failed to deliver on a request from many fans who want story-based DLC. The studio even teased news about story mode content in April, leading many fans to believe that new missions were on the way. However, that DLC never arrived and it now appears that the game might never see any additional content focused on the story.
GTA V is proving to be incredibly popular on PC as it has broken the concurrent player record for a non-Valve game, with more than 300,000 users playing the game at the same time. According to Gamesindustry.biz, this new benchmark has taken the record away from the immensely popular Skyrim, which has held the record for several years with just over 280,000 concurrent players.
Gaming has always had its benchmark titles; those games that stand out head and shoulders above the rest, those that set the trends other studios work towards or try to best. These seminal titles are considered to be the benchmarks of which other games, and sequels, are judged; particularly within specific genres. Every so often, with increasing rarity in an industry which relies heavily on sequels and franchises, a game comes along and sets a new benchmark.
Associated Press are today reporting news of Rockstar being sued by Lindsay Lohan. The Grand Theft Auto makers are allegedly facing legal proceedings over claims Lindsay Lohan‘s likeness was used without permission in Grand Theft Auto V, released last year for PS3 and Xbox 360, with an updated and graphically superior port announced at E3 to be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC later this year. Sales of Grand Theft Auto V topped more than $800 million on its launch day, and more than $1 billion in its first three days following launch.
It seems that Rockstar Games are hosting a little viral video for GTA V on their official website. The NYC-based developer started putting out some strange tweets into a twitter feed for the Epsilon Program back in August of last year, which is also a religious cult that made an appearance in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and GTA IV. The video itself is quite trippy and worth a watch, especially considering that some people are reporting that it contains bits and pieces of in-game footage. Check it out below.
Considering that the score is already there for you to see right at the top of the screen, I’ll do my best to not drag this out any longer than I have to. Max Payne 3 is an uncompromising and occasionally brutal title that eschews many modern game design conventions in order to deliver one of the most pure and enjoyable shooter experiences that I’ve ever played. With that out of the way we can dive headfirst into this review and hopefully dodge some bullets on our way down.
