A new update for Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS went live this week. Nintendo doesn’t release official patch notes for Smash Bros; thus fans are forced to look into the game code and figure out what is different. It turns out, this time….nothing. Every character is the same as they were pre-patch….except for Bayonetta. Also known as The Girl Who Broke Smash Bros (until now), Bayonetta’s addition last February resulted in an over-reliance on her superpowerful feats of hair magic; effective against godlike beings but perhaps overkill when used on Pikachu. Her presence threatened to spoil what until now had been the most balanced Smash to date, but Update 1.1.5 brought the witch down to Earth and this next one, Update 1.1.6, finished the job. Mario Kart 8 Has Sold Almost 3.5 Million Copies In First Four Months

Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart 8 has sold 3.49 million copies in its first four months. The publisher revealed the news when they released their results for the last financial year. This figure includes downloaded and bundled copies, giving an attach rate at 47.8 percent, which is up from 42 percent from Nintendo’s first quarter financial report. Nintendo also revealed in their financials that they sold 610,000 Wii U consoles in the last quarter, and shipped 1.27 million 3DS/2DS consoles, bringing the total to 2.09 million this year. They still project to sell 3.6 million Wii U consoles and 12 million 3DS/2DS consoles. As for software, Nintendo revealed that Pokémon X and Y sold 13.29 million units, Tomodachi Life sold 3.12 million units, and Super Smash Bros. 3DS sold 3.22 million units. Overall, Nintendo posted revenue of ¥9.255 billion ($85.7 million) for the second quarter. For more on Nintendo’s second quarter report, click here.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U Release Date Announced

Nintendo has announced that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be released on November 21 in North America, December 5 in Europe, and December 6 in Australia.  Additionally, Nintendo announced that the GameCube controller adapter, which was announced in late May, will launch alongside Super Smash Bros. Wii U. You can purchase the controller separately for $19.99, or you can purchase a bundle that comes with both the game and the controller for $99.99. Nintendo also revealed Super Smash Bros. 3DS has been successful, announcing that the game has sold over 2.8 million units worldwide. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS just recently released in North America and Europe, and it has been available since September in Japan.  We’ll have more on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U soon, but for now you can pre-order it here.
