The X-Men franchise is going through some interesting times both in the comics and in the films. Everyone is excited for the return of Jean Grey in the comics, and in the films, the Dark Phoenix film has gotten some new details and pictures showing what may be going on in the title. But, some fans are still bitter over what happen in the previous film, Apocalypse. Some felt that despite the grandiose nature of the film it dropped the ball in many ways. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, director Simon Kinberg talked about what went wrong in his mind: “I think we took our eye off what has always been the bedrock of the franchise, which is these characters,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “It became about global destruction and visual effects over emotion and character.” This sentiment was mirrored by producer Hutch Parker: “There’s a lot that I think is very good in the film but, as a whole, it was struggling to find ways to coalesce, narratively emotionally and in terms

X-Men Apocalypse was very divisive amongst fans, while some loved it, including us here at PopGeeks, others weren’t as big of fans. Mainly, they criticized the use of Apocalypse, the little use of Magneto after the opening act, and more. This reflected in the box office total for the film, as it ranked really low compared to all the other X-Men films and spinoffs that have come out over the years. This led many to wonder whether the rebooted X-Men film universe would get another reboot. However, Sophie Turner, who debuted as Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse seems to have confirmed that not only is the next movie coming, it’s filming soon. For she told Hey U Guys: “We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men,” Turner told Hey U Guys, “we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. It may be hard to believe, but X-Men: Apocalypse is the fourth superhero film in five months. And to me, it’s the best of the lot. Where this movie excels is its ability to blend past, present, and future into a narrative that is both very compelling, massive in scope, and foreshadowing as to what’s to come. From the opening sequence, to the final shot that will make many fans happy, X-Men: Apocalypse just works on all levels. One could argue that the biggest challenge of X-Men: Apocalypse is the villain himself. As he’s portrayed in the comics as not only a “survival of the fittest” kind of being, but one with extraordinary powers that truly make him seem like a god. Despite many already knowing what X-Men: Apocalypse is like, because of advance screenings, their are many who still don’t know what to expect. Director Bryan Singer has revealed some info that sheds light on how much was shot for the film, but also what people can expect deleted scene wise. He makes a special mention that there won’t be an alternate cut like with the Rogue Cut from Days Of Future Past: “There will be no alternate cut of this movie,” he says to Fandango. “There will be nothing like the Rogue Cut or anything like that. I’m not a big fan of director’s cuts or extended editions, I never have been. In the case of Apocalypse, I removed what would be considered a conventional amount from the movie to protect what we call the collective experience of the feature theatrically. 20th Century Fox just dropped the latest trailer for X-men: Apocalypse. You can check out the new action-packed video which contains quite a few revelations in the player below. This new trailer contains some pretty huge revelations. The first of which is that Wolverine will be in the movie in some capacity. At the very least, it appears he will have some sort of cameo in the story. Also, Quicksilver reveals that Magneto is in fact his father. This is consistent with Quicksilver’s origin in the comics. However, this confirms they are taking the character in that direction for the upcoming sequel. It does appear that Mystique is taking some sort of leadership role in the film. Ultimately, it appears she’s going to train and lead the group of X-Men who are depicted in the film. It’s a bit of a strange change and departure for Mystique. X-Men: Apocalypse is a major movie for the X-Men franchise in many ways. First, it’ll introduce one of the most powerful, and most popular, X-Men villains in the being known as Apocaplyse. When it comes to mutants in the X-Men universe, their powers vary from the small, to the physical, to the imbued, to the godly. One of the main differences between comic books and comic book movies is the ability to do certain things with certain characters in certain situations, and then relay them in a certain amount of time. Movies always have a constant state of motion, even when sequels are a given, cause eventually the movie will end.
