Thea Queen’s Role In Arrow Season 5 Revealed
At the end of Arrow Season 4, there was a massive shakeup on the team itself. Oliver became mayor, Laurel was killed, Diggle apparently re-enlisted, and Thea wanted desperately to find out “who she was” outside of being Speedy and Malcolm Merlyn’s daughter.
Now, it’s been revealed that when we catch up with her at the beginning of Season 05, Thea has a new job, and one that no one may have expected her to be:
“What we’ve done is we made her Oliver’s chief of staff,” Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim tells Entertainment Weekly. Guggenheim goes on to hint that this new career path will give Thea a chance to define who she is outside of the shadow of her father, Malcolm Merlyn.
“Perhaps, to her own surprise, she’s actually really, really good at it. All the skills that she learned by watching her mother for all those years, as well as running Verdant, she’s found very transferrable to City Hall, and in many ways, she’s a much better chief of staff than Oliver is a mayor.”
The Arrow crew have stated that Oliver’s role as mayor will be integral to this season, and so by extension, Thea’s part in it could also be integral. We’ll just have to see when Arrow returns this October.
