Tight Race Ensues at Box Office, Terminator Genisys Falls Short
Things continue to get interesting in regards to the weekend box office as two new movies sought to take the crown of No.1 film, but both fell to two titans still locked in an epic battle. The true big release this week was Terminator Genisys, which sought to reboot the franchise in a big way, even going so far as to bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger once again to help anchor the film. The movie only brought in $28.7 million from Friday to Sunday.
However, as it has been for the last few weeks, the battle for the top spot boiled down to Jurassic World and Inside Out. This is where it gets tricky, and interesting. For the three day box office total, as noted by Hollywood Reporter, Jurassic World is currently in the lead, with $30.9 million, while Inside Out has $30.1. This could easily change by the time the full numbers come in.
However, with the 5-day “Fourth of July” weekend totals, the roles are reversed. As noted by MSN, Inside Out in that five days brought in $45.3 million, whereas Jurassic World did $43.8. So the “real” winner may be determined by what you’re talking about in regards to how long this particular weekend was.
