Tom Holland Wants to Team Up With Marvel Characters in Solo Spider-Man Film
If you haven’t seen, the official trailer for Captain America: Civil War has come, this is the movie that will not only kick off Marvel’s Phase 3, but will be the first movie to introduce the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland. Once Spider-Man is in the universe, the possibilities are endless, which actor Tom Holland tells IGN is something he’s really hoping will happen in the Spider-Man solo films. He will star in his own solo Spider-Man film that is due out in 2017.
“It’s very daunting, because obviously the first two guys were so great and they did such fantastic performances, so I’ve got quite a lot to follow,” Holland told IGN. “I think I’ll have the help from the rest of the Marvel Universe and what’s quite exciting is when you read these comics that he’s in, he interacts with a lot of other superheroes. So I don’t know if they will — they might do — but I love the idea of teaming up with other people and getting to work with some of the cast that are in this universe.”
To be clear, this can happen because part of the deal between Marvel and Sony states that MCU characters can come to Spider-Man films and vice versa, but will they? We’ll have to wait and see. Captain America: Civil War, featuring Tom Holland as Spider-Man, opens in theaters on May 6, 2016. The new Spider-Man movie starring Holland is due out on July 28, 2017.
