A Date For The Terminator’s Return
After Genisys flopped, 20th Century Fox was about to mothball the whole concept of murderous robots traveling through time in fleshbags. The only person who could save the Terminator was James Cameron himself, and now he’s done just that. Fox has confirmed Cameron’s return to the franchise, which will make its big-screen debut July 26, 2019.
We don’t know what got his interest in coming back, but we’ve gotten a few hints he doesn’t consider anything he wasn’t personally involved with to be canon. How else do you explain the fact that Linda Hamilton will be reprising Sarah Connor once more? Also returning is Ahnold himself to his single most famous role. But at age 71, he doesn’t quite look fresh off the assembly line anymore. How will Cameron explain that?
As James told THR, he’s come up with some kind of explanation. “You don’t have to get around it. The beauty of it is: He’s a cyborg. And so, the org part is on the outside, meaning organism. And Reese says it in the first film: “They sweat. They have bad breath.” Because they were supposed to be infiltration units, so there’s this idea that flesh sort of sheaths over a metal endo-skeleton. So that would age normally. So, obviously he’s one that’s been in action and operation for a long time. And that’s all I want to say about the actual story part of it.”
He’ll be back, and so will she, and so will he as well, in……whatever they wind up calling Terminator 3 #2 when it premieres in two years.
