Activision presents Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer
The next generation of Call of Duty multiplayer has been revealed, and there’s a plethora of subjects for fans to talk about.
Hosted by Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg, Infinity Ward Executive Prodcuer Mark Rubin and Activision Senior Producer Yale Miller, the one-hour-long showing flooded the minds of attendees and viewers with details that are bound to provoke discussion. Create-a-Solider replaces Create-a-Class, promoting innumerable customisation possibilities. Interactive and dynamic destruction can alter the battle landscape at any time, bringing a whole new meaning to the expression “learn the maps”. Player mobility has evolved to incorporate knee slides, mantling and contextual lean mechanics. A smartphone app will launch alongside the game to enhance and integrate with Call of Duty ELITE. There are seven new game modes, 30 new weapons, 20 new Scorestreaks, a total of 35 perks… and we’re not even scratching the surface.
Love it or loathe it, Activision’s first-person shooter stands as one of the biggest entertainment institutions in world. By the numbers, more than 100 million of us have played it worldwide. In ten years, we’ve fired more than 32.3 quadrillion bullets, called in enough Care Packages to build 15,000 Great Pyramids of Giza, and racked up 2.85 million years of online time doing so – exceeding the entirety of human existence. Judging by what Call of Duty: Ghosts will bring to the table in November, this behemoth of a franchise isn’t going anywhere soon.
