Adaeus: Rogue Planet Hits Steam Greenlight
Adaeus: Rogue Planet – a new entry in the roguelike platformer genre featuring incredible 16-bit graphics and RPG mechanics – has now entered Steam Greenlight. Inspired by the Castlevania franchise and the 2015 indie hit Axiom Verge, Adaeus: Rogue Planet features a world where even the plants are deadly — and menacing monsters lie in wait at every turn. Can you survive long enough to uncover the secrets of Adaeus? The developers have described the games story by saying:
“Cut off from the rest of galactic civilization, Adaeus is a bloodthirsty planet filled with dangerous fauna, environmental hazards, and limited natural resources. Darius Cayne, an accomplished militiaman, has been tasked with investigating a new power source that could save his dying colony; however, what he finds is beyond anything he could have ever imagined. Equipped with a high-tech power suit and blaster, Cayne must hack, slash, and shoot his way through Adaeus’ unrelenting environments to make it back home and save his colony.”
Kill enemies, earn credits, and gain access to dozens of weapon and armor upgrades. Evolve your basic laser pistol into a powerful beam weapon by adding elemental effects (like fire or poison) to each shot, prevent your enemies from hiding by adding the ability to shoot through walls and obstacles — or show who’s boss by charging up the revered Hyperbeam. The game is set to have a number of features upon release, including:
- Customize your skills and mix/match/compound attacks.
- Enjoy ultra-tight platformer controls (Gamepad Support/Key Mapping).
- Experiment with a variety of equipment, upgrades, and combat playstyles.
- Solve interactive environment/puzzles with skills earned in-game.
Jeff Arnold, head programmer behind Adaeus: Rogue Planet, has spoken about the game, saying:
“Adaeus: Rogue Planet is certainly challenging. As someone who grew up in the ‘80s and ‘90s with seminal Metroidvania titles, I felt it was crucial to offer players an experience that respects all those hard-earned skills. The very moment you boot up the game, you’ll instantly know that planet Adaeus is trying to kill you. Invest the time in suit and base upgrades, and you’ll gradually learn how to stay alive!”
