Agents of SHIELD Set to Return for Season 5
Per Marvel Entertainment, Agent Phil Coulson and his team will be back for at least one more season. The word was sent out today from ABC that Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will be back for Season 5.
The fifth season will continue the adventures of fan-favorite team of agents. The current season will climax with the Season 4 finale on Tuesday, May 15 at 10:00 pm EST on ABC. The episode will feature the return of Robbie Reyes, aka Ghost Rider, makes his return. Ghost Rider joins up with Coulson’s team to face a highly empowered, and now human, Aida.
What’s interesting is that the upcoming fall TV season will also host the debut of Marvel’s Inhumans, which is set to air on ABC. Inhumans will feature the MCU debut of the Inhuman Royal Family. Considering that Agents of SHIELD introduced Inhumans to the MCU, it will be interesting to see if the shows interact or connect with each other at all. Inhumans won’t be a movie franchise. Both shows will air on the same network. There isn’t really a legitimate reason the SHIELD team would not look into the Royal Family situation. That is if the Royal Family becomes a publicly known entity over the course of the Inhumans TV series.
Overall, this is good news for the show. Agents of SHIELD has generally struggled with its ratings in the past, but the network has continued to support it and had faith in the show. Plenty of quality shows don’t even last this long and are killed prematurely.
More details on Agents of SHIELD and its Season 5 premiere date will be revealed later on. Based on previous season, it should make its debut sometime this fall.
