In the run-up to the San Diego Comic-Con, Entertainment Weekly reports some interesting news about Robert Downey Jr. and the possibility of an “Iron Man 4“. Apparently, Robert Downey Jr. is more open to the idea of making a 4th “Iron Man” film than the general consensus expected: “It’s down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree,” Downey Jr. said in a statement. “When things are going great, there’s a lot of agreement.” Downey Jr. also added  “It’s that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?” Of course, he goes on to add that “Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out.” Interestingly, after he said that, Marvel announced another release in 2018 that previously wasn’t listed. Hmm . . . Marvel Studios will likely be announcing many of their unannounced movie titles this Saturday

While browsing though the Japanese site 4Gamer (via the miracles of Google Translate) I came across this nifty little title that was just announced by Nippon Ichi Software (NIS). htoL#NIQ (yes, that is the real title) looks like to be a beautiful game that uses new game mechanics as well as throwback ideas to create a side-scrolling adventure through a gothic, eerie environment. In the game, you play as Hotaru, a firefly (and yes, “Hotaru” means “firefly” in Japanese, so . . . you’re playing a firefly named “Firefly”). You find a girl named Mion in the bottom of a cabin on the verge of collapsing, and, of course, she’s amnesiac. Your goal is to guide Mion to the outside world, but there’s a catch. You’re both a “shadow butterfly” and a “common firefly”, and you can switch between two worlds, a normal one, and a “shadow” one where there’s many perils. Hi, it’s macattack. I fully admit I suffered from burnout at the end of February along with some personal difficulties, but now I have returned to posting again. I do intend on covering more of Titanfall, once I can figure out how to get my Xbox fixed or replaced. Anyway, onto news, and a follow-up to my previous “Marc Webb” article posted some time ago. The Daily Beast of all places has an interview with Marc Webb, and it reveals that once his contract ends with 2016’s “Amazing Spider-Man 3”, he will be finished directing the franchise. However, he wishes to stay involved with the franchise, and interestingly has suggested crossing the title over with Marvel’s other properties, even though Sony has no rights to them. “I’d like to be involved as a consultant, and I’ve already talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. Marc Webb Will Spin One More “Amazing Spider-Man” Tale

It’s pretty much an off-handed remark, among a smorgasbord of other “Amazing Spider-Man”-related information, but Variety, in a article about Sony Pictures at large, revealed that Marc Webb will return for one more Amazing Spider-Man installment. The film is slated for June 2016. Of course, that wasn’t the only bit of info released over the last couple of days. Comic Book Movie got a picture of Dane DeHaan as The Green Goblin, and he looks . . . interesting. Showing off the picture below. Yeah. Not entirely sure how to feel about that. Looks a bit on the weird side. Then again, Gobby’s Power Ranger getup in the original 2002 film wasn’t exactly the greatest thing since sliced bread either. Clearly, Sony has high hopes for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, even in spite of screenshots like that. As the Variety article helpfully shows, Sony doesn’t exactly have much else to bank on. Electronic Art’s and Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming “Titanfall” looks like a tour de force of action, both of the FPS and mecha varieties. With the final box art, the beta completed, and a firm release date of March 11th in hand, the rumors of Titanfall being a killer app may come to fruition, especially with the Xbox One losing ground early to the Playstation 4 in the new console wars. However, I have concerns over “Titanfall”, especially if it winds up becoming a success for Microsoft, as I feel that “Titanfall” may bring unforeseen consequences to the future of video games that may not be so great. 1. The game is unplayable unless you pay for Xbox Live Gold.  “Titanfall” is the first game of its kind where it completely dispenses with a single-player story mode. Instead, the story mode is integrated into the multi-player (though not well, by my own experience with the beta). Basically, “Titanfall” is a dead game unless you cough up the $60 for Xbox Live Gold.

I realize I posted something about the new “Godzilla” movie not that long ago. But I want to post something about it again. This is the big action movie I’m excited about for 2014, actually. First up, the impressive poster that was revealed at Yahoo! Movies. Godzilla looks huge. But that is nothing compared to the brand-new trailer that just got released. Observe: There’s two ways to play Godzilla. You play Godzilla straight or you play Godzilla as cheesy for all its worth. And if you’re going to play Godzilla straight, you better make Godzilla the most terrifying force of nature you can ever imagine. This movie looks to be playing Godzilla straight . . . but it is also looking like the movie will accomplish making Godzilla scary. Absolutely scary. There’s a sense of hopelessness in the trailer, this feeling of facing an unstoppable, borderline-invincible force, that that is chilling to the bone. Every bit of a movie theater’s resources look to be getting used up by this one.

What has been widely circulated for the last few months formally became a reality Wednesday as Governor Andrew Cuomo formally inked a deal with Marvel Entertainment to shoot the upcoming Netflix “The Defenders” mini-series collection in New York City, as reported by the New York Daily News. On February 21st, the Internet lit up, as Deadline posted about the strong possibility of there being a sequel to the ironically loved (or fundamentally loathed) 1996 film Space Jam. That made the Internet light up for obvious reasons, especially with the accompanying report that LeBron James was going to be attached to the film, replacing Michael Jordan (which makes sense, because Space Jam turns 18 years old this year). And . . . this is a really, really bad idea. Let me tell you why. 1. LeBron James is not Michael Jordan. In 1996, Michael Jordan was one of the most beloved people in sports, perhaps the most beloved. He made the NBA what it was in the late 90’s, and no one has been able to match him since, the closest being Kobe Bryant (and, admittedly, LeBron James). LeBron James is a great player. Harold Ramis, one of the finest comic actors (“Ghostbusters”, “Stripes”) and directors (“Groundhog Day”, “Caddyshack”) of his generation, died early Monday due to complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis.   Autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis is a rare disease involving the blood vessels swelling. It was caused by an infection in 2010, causing his health problems. Harold Ramis had a long string of hits he wrote and directed for many years, from 1978’s “Animal House” (which he wrote), to “Analyze This” (1999) and “Analyze That” (2002), both of which he wrote and directed. Beforehand, he was a major influence and performer in the legendary Second City group of comedians, including launching the skit show “SCTV”, eventually moving onto the “National Lampoon Radio Hour” in New York City with many of the ensemble. With the release of Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (and a special Collector’s Edition) on February 25th in North America, I felt the time was ripe for a reflection of my favorite Tales game of all time. It will be a bit different from the normal type of reflection due to unique circumstances. “Tales of Symphonia Chronicles” is a repackaging of the original “Tales of Symphonia” released for the Nintendo Gamecube and its sequel “Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World” with HD graphics and some new animated cutscenes. It will also have dual audio, a first for North American editions of the Tales franchise, with both the English audio and Japanese audio being included (Namco Bandai has been coy as to whether the English dialogue is being re-recorded or being added to the game due to “unique” dubbing circumstances). Yet another surprise in this still-young 2014. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xXUjpHHfTLY “Reborn” will be a 13-episode miniseries that will stand apart from the original 2006-10 “Heroes”, which depicted normal humans discovering that they have superhuman abilities. Being a standalone, it won’t require viewers of the original to watch, though possible cameos and guest appearances from characters of the original series may happen. However, considering that the ratings had plummeted by the fourth and final season, maybe it’s for the best. The original series starred Milo Ventimiglia, Adrian Pasdar, and Hayden Panettiere, among an ensemble cast. More info to follow soon.

Conclusion of this, a long time coming, actually. It’s occurred to me that  I never did a proper introductory post here. My name is Mackenzie Haa, though I go by the alias “macattack” for a what of what I do. I have always been a big Star Wars, Marvel, and anime fan, and I enjoy a variety of video games, and I have aspirations of becoming a creator in the entertainment industry. Writing about Star Wars has been bittersweet for me. On one hand, George Lucas clearly doesn’t want to manage his creation anymore, otherwise he wouldn’t have sold it to Disney in the first place. On the other hand, I invested a lot of money into the Star Wars Expanded Universe, and seeing much of it being retconned out of existence is saddening.
