Avatar Sequels Will Be About Family
The original Avatar was a visual spectacle, and one that amazed fans all over the world to the point of it becoming one of the highest grossing movies of all time. Now, James Cameron is working hard on a trio of sequel films for the original.
Avatar’s story was a simplistic one of main character Jake Sully going to a new world and discovering the true meaning of life and love. According to James Cameron in a chat with Variety, the sequels will be more about family.
“It’s more of a family saga about the struggle with the humans.
The sequels will follow Jake and Naytiri and their children. With the first film being set to arrive in 2018. This has been moved back a bit, but Cameron is confident in the new date.
“We haven’t moved that target yet, but we will if we need to,” he said. “The important thing for me is not when the first one comes out but the cadence of the release pattern. I want them to be released as close together as possible. If it’s an annual appointment to show up at Christmas, I want to make sure that we’re able to fulfill on that promise.”
