Axiom Verge To Be Published On Disc With Bonus Features
Remember Axiom Verge? It’s a sidescrolling exploration game heavily inspired by Metroid that won the hearts of critics everywhere in 2015. It’s a game so good, you could buy it twice. Now you should give that thought serious consideration, as a version for your shelf will be released soon.
The physical version of Axiom Verge will be out in two forms: a “Standard Edition” that’s super-cheap at just $20, and a “Multiverse Edition” that bumps the price to $30 but includes a deluxe booklet with developer’s commentary and art, a double-sided poster, and a making-of documentary on DVD.
It’s the documentary that’s the real prize, since the story behind Axiom Verge is almost as good as the game itself. It was created by one solitary man: Petroglyph Games engineer Tom Happ. He worked on the game in his spare time for five years, and pulled off results more impressive than twenty-employee teams. “Fans have been asking for a physical retail version of Axiom Verge since the game originally launched,” says Happ. “I’m extremely excited that the Multiverse Edition will be coming to retail soon. As a solo developer, it’s always been a dream of mine to see a game that I made end up on the store shelves!”
The Multiverse Edition will be available for Playstation 4, PS Vita and Wii U, while the cheap Standard Edition will be a PS4 exclusive. There is no exact date of release, but Axiom Verge should arrive in stores within the second quarter of 2017.
