Battlefield 2142 Returns Thanks To Fan Efforts
Thanks to the efforts of a group of fans, players can now get back to playing Battlefield 2142 online once again. The group, calling themselves Revive, have now released a fully working version of the game that brings back support for online multiplayer. It’s apparently proved pretty popular as it has already seen a large number of downloaded and more than 1,000 concurrent users over the weekend.
To get your hands on Battlefield 2142 Revive, simply head over to the team’s own site and grab the relevant files and launcher. Once installed, you can connect to the private servers and start shooting people with Mechs just like in the good old days.
Battlefield 2142 first released in October of 2006 and went on to become a firm fan-favorite in the Battlefield series amongst its strong playerbase. Despite the fact that it still regularly attracted a large audience, all official online components were deactivated in 2014 due to the shutdown of GameSpy – something that EA and DICE were unwilling or unable to fix due to the fact that they had moved onto new projects.
