Bethesda To Not Do A Press Conference At Next Year's E3?
At E3 2015, besides the big three, a lot of people were interested in seeing Bethesda’s first press conference, if for no other reason than it was their first, true, solo press conference. Needless to say, between the numerous Fallout 4 announcements, Dishonored 2, Doom, and more, you’d think they’d start to make this a regular thing, but that may not be the case. Studio boss Pete Hines told Telegraph:
“I don’t know if we’ll do one next year. I don’t know if we’ll do one again. This year felt like the right time to do this kind of thing.”
He’s not wrong, with Fallout 4 not only recently announced (officially) but then told to be coming out this year, it felt natural to do the press conference. So why not do one next year? Well, they don’t feel the need to follow the crowd:
“To me it doesn’t. We’ve always felt like we’ll find our own way and do our own thing. If we’re going to do a showcase, we’re going to do it our way. No celebrities involved, no famous people coming up there.
We’re not going to use lots of buzzwords or jargon or put up our growth charts for you or whatever. We’re here to talk about games — so here’s one, here’s another, here’s another, here’s another and we’re done. Have a good night.”
So Bethesda may not have a solo press conference next year, but no doubt they’ll be around. After all, they have other games in the works, and probably a surprise or two on the way as well.
