Birds Of Prey Scheduled For February 2020 Release
While DC Comics and Warner Bros have gone a bit light this year in terms of movies, with Teen Titans Go To The Movies and Aquaman being the studios only releases, 2019 has three films packing the year. Shazam! starts in April, the Joaquin Phoenix “Joker” film will arrive in October, and a month after that is the highly anticipated Wonder Woman 1984. But with those films releasing, many wonder what WB/DC will bring to the table in 2020. We now have confirmation that at least one of those films will be Birds of Prey.
This report comes from The Hollywood Reporter, among other sources. Ironically, Birds of Prey has been one of the WB/DC projects that has gotten the most traction since the announcement of the film being made. The film will feature Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie once again as Harley Quinn, and she’ll be joined by Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya, and possibly even more.
The Birds of Prey have been a popular team in DC Comics, including having runs by legendary writer Gail Simone. This team will be a mix of old and new members, and it will be directed by Cathy Yan.
The official release date as of now is February 7th, 2020. Outside of Robbie though, no other major casting has been announced.
