Black Ranger Ludi Lin Reveals Cut Bloody Scene
The future of the Power Rangers movie franchise is still very much in the air right now. The film did decently in the box office, and did make a profit, but it was hardly enough to justify a full on sequel, let alone the five that Saban had planned. The home DVD sales were promising though, as Power Rangers was #1 in the nation when it came out. Still, it’s uncertain what will happen next. Interestingly enough though, we’re still hearing about things that almost made it into the film, including a bloody fighting between Zack and Jason.
Actor Ludi Lin (who played Zack, the Black Ranger) was talking about his role in Aquaman when the topic of Power Rangers got brought up. So, he decided to have some fun and reveal that scene that didn’t make the cut
“I’ll tell you about this scene that never made it into the Power Rangers movie because it was too violent… too bloody,” Lin shared to the Ara Show. “It was a scene between me and Dacre [Montgomery], who plays the Red Ranger, and we had this massive fight because there is kind of a competition going on between us. That was a funny day. Power Rangers has been going on in Japan for more that 40 years. This is their baby. And they sent the original creator of the Power Rangers to our set for a visit with his whole entourage. They were watching us fight and in Japan in Power Rangers there is not really any blood, just lots of sparks. But that day we were going full out and kept on asking for more and more fake blood. A couple of time time we accidentally clocked each other for real. So, we were bleeding for real and there was fake blood everywhere. The Japanese guys were shocked.”
That does sound cool, and there certainly was tension between Zack and Jason in the film for sure. Who knows, maybe this could’ve added some more flair to the film. Hard to say for sure.
