Brie Larson Talks Duty of Marvel Role
Brie Larson is set to have a very important role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mainly, in that she is set to play Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers in both a solo film, and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, both parts. Captain Marvel will be the first solo female-led film, and is heralded as one of the strongest, and most liked, characters in the Marvel Universe. So naturally, there’s a lot of pressure on her to get the character right on screen.
Larson herself notes that this is true, and even noted to Total Film that she feels a great deal of responsibility about being Captain Marvel:
“I feel a great responsibility,” Larson said. “I have so many conversations with fans about the universe and this character in particular. I’m grateful for social media for that, actually — it’s such a great way to connect with people, to understand what it is they love about this character, what it is they hope to see. Where this character’s at in the comic books is such an inspiring space right now. I’m so grateful to be part of it.”
Captain Marvel was supposed to have her solo film much sooner, but it got delayed. There’s still some uncertainty with the solo film, but she will appear in Infinity War next year.
