Another classic video game property is getting the TV treatment. But this time, it’s in the form of Castlevania, and it will be airing on Netflix this year. Early indications are that this will be a faithful adaptation of the series, as the plot is about “the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.”
IGN actually got to speak with producer Adi Shankar about the animated series, and the producer notes that the show will not hold back on what made Castlevania so special. Mainly, in that this will be violent, and the rating of the show reflects that.:
“[The series is] going to be R-rated as f***,”
The story itself will actually be an adaptation of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, so this won’t be an original story, which may actually be better here. As video game shows and films haven’t had the best luck resonating with fans. Though Shankar is confident in what this animated series will be:
“This is going to be the best f*****g video game adaptation we’ve had to date.”
Could this be true? Guess we’ll have to wait and find out when part 1 of the animated series arrives later this year.
