Coming To PC — Silent Night: A Ghost Story For Christmas
Publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Darkling Room produce a series of ghost-hunting adventure games called the Crown series. Their latest entry is due out this December, and takes an appropriate seasonal theme.
In Silent Night: A Ghost Story For Christmas, the town of Northfield is being haunted by specters from 1349, when the Black Plague terrorized Europe. It being the Dark Ages, it took while to pin the blame on the rats — in the meantime the townsfolk were busy accusing each other of cursing the land. Now they’re dead, but that doesn’t mean they’re resting.
It’s Christmas Eve in Northfield Church, and though it’s snowy and cold outside, ghost hunter Nigel Danvers would prefer to be anywhere else — the ghosts are definitely here and active. To survive the night, he’ll have to hunt the ghosts down and avoid traps both within the church and the Carrion Woods outside its walls.
Silent Night: A Ghost Story For Christmas is different from previous Crown entries in that it’s the first of these games in full 3D. “I’m very pleased to be moving the Crown games in a new direction,” says Jonathan Boakes, creator and head writer of the Crown franchise. “It’s been refreshing to move the ghost-hunting games to full 3D. All the new whizzes and bangs of 3D have given us new vigor, with lots to look forward to. Wrap up warm, the Carrion Woods await.”
Silent Night: A Ghost Story For Christmas starts haunting PCs this December.
Northfield is haunted by the terrible Winter of 1349, when the Black Death swept across the land, killing over two thirds of the population. The plague was silent, invisible and deadly. Everyone was blamed, from witches to wood folk, as the once kind people of Northfield turned on each other. T’was the night before Christmas, and all through the church, plenty was stirring, especially the ghosts. To break the trap and escape, Nigel must make a terrible decision on the loneliest night of the year.
