Coming up in Gaming – November 2016
As has become traditional for this time of year, November sees a whole host of new titles coming to consoles and PC. Although many of them are not exactly AAA releases, there are a few big hitters that are coming to store shelves.
Big Hitters
While Activision’s big rival in the first-person shooter space have gone to the past, in the form of Battlefield 1, they have decided to head to the future with their latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise. Infinite Warfare in an Infinity Ward developed game that releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 4, taking players to the distant future as humanity has established colonies around the solar system to support the now stripped Earth. The multiplayer portion has also seen a change with a new class system known as Combat Rigs, which allow players to tailor their classes to their playstyles.
Although Football Manager might not be considered a big franchise by many gamers, it remains one of the most successful series in the industry. This latest instalment, which will become available on Pc, Mac, Linux, and mobile devices from November 4, includes a new enhanced match experience, a revamped inbox system, face generation technology, and brand new transfer and contract options to test player’s ability.
The sequel to Ubisoft’s mixed 2014 release, Watch Dogs 2 features a brand new protagonist in San Francisco. Following the events of its predecessor, more cities have installed the ctOS surveillance network, prompting more hackers to take up the task of bringing it down around the United States. Watch Dogs 2 sees players take on the role of Marcus Holloway as he battles against ctOS as part of the group DedSec. It releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One November 15.
Pokemon is one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world. It is also standing at an all-time high in terms of popularity thanks to the summer release of Pokemon Go, which attracted millions of new players to the series for the very first time with its virtual reality gameplay. The latest entries in the main series of games are Pokemon Sun & Moon. Available on the Nintendo 3DS from November 18 in North America and Japan, and November 23 in Europe, it follows the same basic premise as previous games. However, it also features brand new features in the form of fully 3D graphics, a new type of move known as Z-moves, and new forms of previously revealed Pokemon.
As you might have guessed from the name of Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, this trilogy of games is the complete story of the most famous assassin from the franchise – Ezio Auditore. The remaster features upgraded graphics and performance for the original three titles in the series, along with brand new content in the form of short films. The collection also includes all of the previously released downloadable content for the three games included. It releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox on November 17.
Following on from the Darksiders 2 remaster that came out several months ago, Nordic Games is now releasing the original game in an upgraded form. Darksiders: Warmastered Edition includes the base game with new visuals, while it will run at 1080p at 60 frames per second. It will be available for the Xbox one, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and PC at various times throughout the month.
