Confirmed: GameStop Will Buy Back Its Own Garbage
It’s well known among gamers how badly GameStop is run, but have you ever wondered if the store would actually purchase a game it had thrown away hours earlier? This was confirmed by two stereotypical dudebros, Dee and Dave, who run their own YouTube channel full of videos covering their dumpster-diving exploits. This time, they found discarded game discs in the back of a GameStop, and decided to see if they could sell them back to the same shop they came from.
Their plan might have worked completely, if not for two factors:
One, this video of their committing the act obviously exists, with their faces uncensored, and….
Two, as they were leaving the GameStop and counting their money, one of them remarked to the clerk, “Just don’t throw them in your garbage, which is where we got it! Heh heh.”
One hour later, as the bros were laughing in their car, their phone rang. This is the third thing they hadn’t counted on: the fact that whenever you trade in a used game to GameStop, you have to give the company your phone number in case anything goes wrong with the disc. It wasn’t the GameStop employee. It was the cops.
It appears they weren’t busted for the act, just warned, for the report of “causing a disturbance.” As you can see in the video, they are completely dumbfounded by this. “How were we causing trouble? We were just standing in front of the counter the whole time!” This is also not the first time they’ve gotten the attention of the police. Takes all kinds.
