Could Ben Affleck’s First Solo Batman Feature Be Based On “Under The Red Hood”?
It’s not secret that DC and WB are incredibly impressed with what Ben Affleck is doing as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie. As they’ve tailored the film to have more scenes with him, and rumors are going on about not only a trio of Batfleck movies, but with Affleck being the director of them all. Or at least the first one.
Now, rumors are flying that the first solo film for Affleck’s Batman will be based on the classic Batman story, “Under The Red Hood”. Which features the return/resurrection of former Robin Jason Todd. Who died at the hands of the Joker, who is already in the new movie universe via Suicide Squad and Jared Leto.
For those fearful that this would be a “direct” retelling of the story, apparently that won’t be the case, as the rumor (and this is still rumor) from JoBlo states:
“the basic plotline of Affleck’s solo Batfilm is that Jason Todd has returned from the grave as the Red Hood, working in the shadows to make people think he’s Batman, while making Batman look like a criminal. At the same time he leaves clues about his identity for Bruce/Batman to ultimately solve, leading to a confrontation that will involve Batman, Red Hood, and yes, The Joker, who will feature as a primary villain alongside Red Hood.”
It should be noted that only one Robin has ever been in a major Batman picture (not including the Adam West/Burt Ward Batman ’66 movie), that was Dick Grayson played by Chris O’Donnel. In the comics, Jason Todd is the Robin to come after Grayson leaves on his own. And many people believe it’s his Robin Armor we see in the Batcave during the BVS trailer.
We’ll let you know if we hear more.
