It seems a week can’t go by without a rumor or question about the future of the DC Comics Film Universe. While fans await the arrival of Aquaman (coming this December), Shazam! (arriving next spring), and Wonder Woman 2 (filming soon, will arrive late next year), there’s still a lot of questions as to what films will definitively be coming next. One of the ones that fans definitely want to see is The Batman, the first Batman solo film in this universe, which will be helmed by Matt Reeves (Planet of the Apes trilogy).

Ironically, despite Batman being one of the most definitive DC Comics presences in film, the movie has had a lot of ups and downs and rumors about who’s in, who’s out, and whether Ben Affleck will actually be in the film. But for many, they’re just hoping to get word of when it’s filming. Well, Heroic Hollywood has gotten word that the film will begin production next year, and according to Matt Reeves, the story is done.

Now, depending on when it films, it could arrive either in 2020 or 2021. It’s hard to say which at this point. It also needs to be said that this is indeed just a rumor, nothing confirmed as of this point.
