Cowboy Bebop Live-Action TV Show in the Works
Deadline reports that Cowboy Bebop might return as a new live-action TV series from Tomorrow Studios. The cult anime TV series, which gained a lot of recognition and popularity in the US is currently in development as a joint project by ITV Studios and Tomorrow Studios.
The project is reportedly part of a joint venture for Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios. Tomorrow Studios is also teaming with Midnight Radio, who will executive produce alongside Sunrise, the studio for the original show. Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Matthew Weinberg are all attached to executive produce the series as well. Chris Yost, the writer behind Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is set to write the TV series. Considering Yost’s pedigree with comics and even popular animated shows such as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Tomorrow Studios could’ve done a lot worse.
The sci-fi genre mash-up series followed the exploits of space bounty hunter Spike Spiegel and his friends of fellow bounty hunters aboard the spaceship Bebop as they travel the galaxy to take on the worst of the worst. The original anime series, directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, ran for 26 episodes in Japan from 1998-1999 before eventually migrating to the States. Eventually, an anime film was later produced set within the timeline of the series.
