The Crew suffering technical problems
Despite the developers behind The Crew promising that the online racing game would not have any launch problems following its release earlier this week, the game is suffering from a number of technical problems that are causing issues for gamers. Ubisoft have already issued a day one patch but have so far not commented on the complaints by fans and gaming sites.
A number of different sites are report technical limitations with the game. While Ubisoft has not allowed early reviews of the game to be posted some publication have still provided early impressions. Eurogamer noted that while The Crew had plenty of potential it is currently in a broken state that prevents it from being the game that Ubisoft said it would be. They note that lost connections can result in chunks of progress being completely lost, in some cases for up to an hour. Rock, Paper, Shotgun also pointed out that connecting with other players in order to join and create crews.
Earlier in the week Serkan Hasan said that because of a long beta period, the team were confident that no launch day problems would occur as they had been able to use feedback to solve issues before release. Hasan said: “For The Crew, we’ve reaped the benefits of a long term beta program, designed specifically to push our infrastructure as far as possible in real world situations, with thousands of players from all over the world playing the game at the same time,” Hasan explained. The launch of any online game these days has potential issues, but I hope that players will be encouraged by our open approach. If you had any doubts that we could pull this off, I hope that the betas proved our credentials and the game’s stability.”
