Darksiders Remaster Meant To "Gauge Interest" in Possible Darksiders 3
Darksiders was a curious title that came from the minds of THQ and Vigil Games. Set in a post-acocalyptic world, you played as War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Then, Darksiders 2 had you playing as fellow Horseman of the apocalypse, Death. Despite decent numbers, fans wanting a third entry, and Nordic Games now owning the rights to the Darksiders IP, no word on Darksiders 3 has been given. A remastered version of Darksiders was released recently, and according to Reinhard Pollace on Steam, it wasn’t meant as a rehash, but rather, a beginning.
“Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition was just the start,” Pollice wrote on the Darksiders 2 community forum. “Since we acquired the franchise we were looking for options for doing a DS3. The remaster was just a way to get some spotlight on the franchise again, reactivate the community and have a better starting position for DS3.”
Unfortunately, due to THQ going bankrupt, the franchise has been left in limbo. The story has not been able to continue of where the exciting finale left the plot in the first game. Now that a remastered version of Darksiders 2 has been released, perhaps that can give more juice to getting a long-awaited sequel to Darksiders. A third game would also need to introduce the rest of the Horsemen of the storyline.
