D&D Introduces Betrayal At Baldur’s Gate
Avalon Hill and Wizards of the Coast have announced Betrayal At Baldur’s Gate, a new board game based within a popular locale in the D&D universe. If the title reminds you of the popular Betrayal At House On The Hill game, there’s a reason….it’s the same thing.
For the unintiated, in Betrayal At House On The Hill players must explore and survive a journey through a haunted house, while being aware that one of their teammates will eventually go mad/turn evil and attempt to kill them. It’s one of the most popular tabletop games ever made and pretty much every board game enthusiast has played at least one round of it. This version substitutes the city of Baldur’s Gate for the house.
The board consists of location tiles that can be rearranged to form a different map layout each time you play; monsters you encounter will be of the D&D persuasion; there are D&D-themed races and classes to play as, and the scenarios are right out of a Dungeon Master’s notebook. You don’t HAVE to play Betrayal with a D&D skin, but the option will be out there soon.
Avalon Hill will release Betrayal At Baldur’s Gate this October; a specific launch date is yet to be determined.
