Dead Island 2 Loses Developer
In a surprising turn of events, it’s been revealed to IGN that Dead Island 2 has lost it’s developer, Yager, the team behind Spec Ops: The Line. In a statement, they revealed,
“With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.”
This is no doubt a huge blow to fans of the Dead Island series. The sequel was met with much praise when it was revealed at E3 2014 last year. True, we didn’t have any gameplay, but the zany reveal trailer had us wanting more outrageous yet horrifying zombie experiences that we knew would only come from Dead Island.
And then, very oddly, it was missing from E3 2015 this year. Something that both fan and writer noticed, this no doubt was the reason that didn’t happen. Could the game be in trouble? Is that why Yager was dropped from the project? Or was this a case of not matching the expectations of both Deep Silver and fans?
No answers are here at the moment, but let’s hope we get them soon.
