Deadpool Director Tim Miller Hints at Cable for Potential Sequel
Yesterday, in case you didn’t see, the trailer for Deadpool released, and it was pretty much what many fans expected it to be. It was fast, funny, violent (depending on which version you saw) and had Deadpool being Deadpool. This may just be the Deadpool movie we both want and deserve. Naturally, all this excitement has made many ask about what we could get in future Deadpool films. Including the inclusion of a longtime staple in Deadpool comics…the time-traveling mutant Cable. Cable and Deadpool have a very long history in the comics, including having their own comic series together. So will Cable be in Deadpool 2 if it gets made? Director Tim Miller did an interview with Empire about the trailer that was released, and it seems to be possible.
“We kind of wanted a straight-man to play against Colossus. We thought about Cannonball, but he would’ve been a stupid hick character, whereas the guys wrote Negasonic as this deadpan goth teen, which was a great angle,” Miller said, explaining how Negasonic Teenage Warhead came to appear in the film. “She turned out really well. There aren’t really many definitive Deadpool villains, apart from Cable. If we don’t put Cable in ‘Deadpool 2,’ I think we’ll be run out of town on a rail.”
Deadpool comes out Feb 12th, 2016.
