Definitive Edition Of Ori And The Blind Forest Coming This Year
Microsoft’s famous console has a reputation of being the “Bro Box,” and if you want titles that are more experimental or artistic, you’re usually a Playstation gamer first. But if there’s one game other console owners are jealous of, it’s Ori and the Blind Forest — an innovative new platformer with lovely painted graphics that’s exclusive to Microsoft products. You can only play it on XBox One and the PC.
This is unlikely to change, but the developers of the game, Moon Studios, announced at Gamescom the surprise success of that offbeat title has made it possible for them to expand and improve upon it. Later this year Moon will be releasing Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, an expansion of the original with tweaked difficulty and tons of new content.
Thomas Mahler and Gennadiy Korol, founders of Moon Studios, say they’ve taken fan feedback into consideration when making this expanded version. “We really went back, added more content, fixed ALL the things people have been asking for (not talking about bugs here, but actual design and content feedback) and we just want to give back and make it the perfect experience for people who loved Ori and those who haven’t gotten to try it yet,” Mahler told Game Informer.
Korol added, “We [are] actually adding a lot of new content, such as new areas, which are going to be using new mechanics and actually quite new, exciting artwork, and will have potentially new abilities.”
If you already own the original Ori, you’ll be able to pick up the deluxe version at a reduced price, though Microsoft has yet to reveal what price that will be. Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition comes out this holiday season for XBox One and PC.
