Destiny DLC The Dark Below gets release date and new details
Bungie has revealed that their first piece of DLC for Destiny will release 9 December. The developer has also released some details about exactly what the expansion will bring. The Dark Below will include a variety of new content for players according to Bungie.. The biggest batch of content will come in three new campaign missions that will attempt to expand on the disappointing story that came in the original game.
Bungie head Harold Ryan explained in an interview with Eurogamer that the expansions is going to try to tell the story in a different way, partly due to feedback received from players. “What you’ll see in this expansion,” said Ryan. “It’s going to be a very different approach to telling a new story to players than the thematically-driven story from the original launch of the game.” He went on to add:
“The structure of the story in this expansion is different than the story in the core game. Looking at how the story plays and how we wanted to repackage it and reacting to fan feedback, we’re taking a different approach to the story in this one. So it’s going to be driven in a very interesting way for players, as you meet with Eris in the Tower and follow her guidance through the story.”
There will also be a new character added to the Tower. Eris will be a sort of guide for the DLC, sending you on missions to stop Crota and revealing more of Destiny’s story. PvP multiplayer will also see some new additions, with brand new maps for the Crucible game mode. These will include two close quarters maps, The Pantheon and The Cauldron, along with a bigger vehicle map called Skyshock.
Other content that comes with The Dark Below includes a raid known as Crota’s end that will unlock sometime after the DLC launches and two strikes. The first, The Will of Crota, will be available across all platforms while The Undying Mind will be exclusive to PlayStation users. The expansion will also add new loot and weapons along with a raised light level cap of 32.
