Director Andrew David Barker Releases A Reckoning
In January and February of 2009, Britain suffered the worst winter it had experienced in 30 years. It wasn’t a good time to work outdoors or live in a drafty flat. But it WAS the perfect time to film a post-apocalyptic movie.
Andrew David Barker wrote and directed what he called at the time Straw Man. Now several years later under the title A Reckoning, the film has been officially released. Official description is as follows:
The film follows a lone man struggling to make sense of his life in an empty, crumbling world. Whether he is the last man on Earth, the survivor of some catastrophic apocalypse, or just insane is unknown. To cling on to a sense of normality, he creates straw people who he interacts with, teaching a ‘class’ at the school. But as his delusions grow stronger, it seems that he might not be alone after all.
The lead actor is Leslie Simpson, and you could say he really put himself into the role. Simpson starved himself in order to give an emaciated appearance on camera. (We don’t officially recommend this.) Due to a financial dispute between Barker and the investors who paid for the picture, it was unable to see release until recently.
But now here it is, and you can find its official release……..below this paragraph. Seriously, Barker put it on YouTube and for at least the moment, it’s free. You can watch it right now if you have the time to spare.
