Sony Reveals NGP name and Service Provider
Today a Sony announced the official name of their upcoming handheld AKA NGP. Among that they also announced the release date, pricing, console specs and other additional information. Hit the jump for all the details.
The Official name for the NGP will be Playstation Vita (life in Spanish) as for the pricing, Sony has said this will be revealed later on. AT&T however, has confirmed two model of Vita One costing $249 and the other $299.
This product introduces elements such as Dual Camera, touch screens and augmented reality. It will play a major role in handheld market. It will be the first product to blue the line between reality of virtual life. With the support of Wifi and 3g, PSVita will support major social networking web apps. It’ll be teaming up with At&T to bring the fastest 3G network around.
Among those title Sony also revealed some other softwares and even demoed Playstation Suite. The PSVita will support PSP games and also Playstation Suit which will use playstation application along with some certified Android based content.
Now for some specs information:
– Will have Wi-fi and 3G support ( depending on model)
-Front a rear touch pad
-Front and rear camera
Sony promises that game development will be Dev. Friendly and that porting games over will be an easy process. Sony also focused heavy on the fact that they wanted gamers to have the on the go experience. Meaning that players will be able to take their games, for the first time in gaming history, from their Playstation 3 and transfer them to Playstation Vita, allowing players to continue progress from where they left off.
Another huge feature is Cross-party chat. This is similar to Xbox Live party chat. Hopefully this means the PS3 will be getting it.
This is looking to be one promising handheld device from Sony. Can’t wait for the release day to purchase one.
