EA’s Origin: EULA Controversy
…or lack there of, you be the judge.
More after the break.
Want Battlefield 3 on PC? Be prepared to let Origin know everything about your computer and have it share it’s findings with any of it’s marketing partners. That’s the latest in the steady stream of shots Origin has been taking lately after emerging as a competitor to Valve’s popular Steam client.
In the EULA for the Origin service, EA is allowed to identify your computer, OS, installed/uninstalled hardware and software, and use all of that information that it has obtained for marketing purposes AND share it with it’s partners. EA can fix all of this with an opt-out but, at the present time, there is no such thing.
What are your thoughts? Does it matter if they obtain all of this information or do you just want to play games? Also, would an opt-out be a sufficient fix?
