F1 2016 Has New Multiplayer Mode And Runs At 60fps
While we already knew that F1 2016 was set to feature the most immersive career mode of any Formula 1 game that has previously been released, the developer has now revealed that the new title will include a brand new multiplayer focused game mode. The Multiplayer Championship gives up to 22 players the chance to compete in a full season championship via online play, something that has not previously been possible.
Meanwhile, in an interview with GamingBolt, Codemasters confirmed that the PlayStation 4 version of the game will run at a slightly higher resolution than the Xbox One edition. On the PS4, the game will run at 1080p while the other console can only manage 900p in terms of resolution. Fortunately though, both editions of the title will run at 60 frames per second, giving players tighter control than ever before – something that is essential for a racing game.
Unlike other games in the series, the latest instalment will also include the safety and virtual safety car as well as a formation lap, which has been included to help build drama and tension before races. Unusually, F1 2016 will also allow players starting in the singleplayer career mode to choose whichever team they want to race with, rather than having to work their way up through the ranks from a lower team.
F1 2016 is set to launch across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 19.
