Fantasy Meets Reality In Time of Legends: Joan of Arc
The story of Joan of Arc has captivated storytellers for centuries because it almost sounds too wild to be real. Recent adaptions have taken that element further by “enhancing” the historical events with explicitly supernatural elements. Sony’s Jeanne D’Arc, released in 2007 for the PSP, was a strategy game based on the Hundred Years’ War — only now Joan could power up into a supersoldier through the use of a magic armlet and there were literal monsters on the field. (It’s a good game, by the way.)
Now comes Time of Legends: Joan of Arc, a tabletop game from Mythic Games and Monolith that throws in the whole bucket. “Throughout the game, the beliefs of the era become real, where witches, werewolves, dragons, devils, angels and other mythical creatures mingle with knights, inquisitors and peasants,” reads Mythic’s description.
We don’t have images of the game board itself, but Mythic says it’s composed of “unusually small” 15mm figures of the characters and creatures that will be controllable. There is one exception, and it’s the gigantic dragon with the 21-inch wingspan. This is a game where Joan gets to ride a dragon, and possibly give the English a taste of their own fiery medicine. Ha-haa!
Attendees of Gen Con in Indianapolis will have the opportunity to see and play Time of Legends: Joan of Arc for themselves. Gen Con begins August 17 and lasts through the 20th. If you can’t make it, the Kickstarter for Time of Legends: Joan of Arc will launch October 10, 2017.

Wow, this could indeed by a very cool game. Really, I never got into Joan of Arc but any board game that has dragons as well as other mythical creatures in is something that I might just check out in the future.
