FIFA 18 Coming To Nintendo Switch
When the Nintendo Switch was officially unveiled a few weeks ago, EA confirmed that they would be working on a custom version of FIFA specifically for the console. This led to concerns that the game would not be the fully title as will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One but rather a cut-down version as was the case on the Wii. Peter Moore has moved to allay those fears, confirming that FIFA 18 will be coming to the console.
“Well, as we have said,” said Moore in the GameReactor interview., “we are custom-building a FIFA version for the Nintendo Switch. It will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year when FIFA 18 comes out.”
EA’s Patrick Soderlund had previously explained that the company might make custom-built games for the console because of the way the hardware offers new functionality and features compared to other next generation consoles.
“Nintendo forces us to think differently,” he explained to IGN in an interview. He added that the Switch “challenges conventions,” and, “as game makers, makes us think about the platform in a different way.”
This suggests that the custom nature of the game will likely focus on the portable nature of the console and the unique control options available with the Joycon controllers. If this is the case, players can expect to receive all the same features that are available in other versions of the game, including Ultimate Team and The Journey.
