Fire Emblem Awakening Misses Its Street Date
If you’ve been waiting to play Fire Emblem Awakening looks like you might be waiting just a little while longer.
It seems that the shipments of Nintendo’s newest entry into the Fire Emblem have met with a little trouble. Many gamers are reporting that various stores like Wal-Mart, GameStop and Best Buy aren’t receiving their pre-order copies in. Individual shoppers from sites like Amazon.com are also having issues as it appears that the long awaited title is now listed as temporarily out of stock; even for people that have already paid for theirs. Game Informer called to various stores to confirm in their area and indeed many stores are saying they won’t have theirs till as late as 2/8/13. I decided to do a bit of my own snooping around the brick and mortar gaming stores in my area and there wasn’t a copy of the title in sight. Employees gave me similar expected arrival dates of Friday the 8th or later; one employee from GameStop even told me that it could be the 11th or possibly even the 15th before they received their copies, and those would just be pre-order copies.
While that may just be four more days of waiting for a hardcore gamer eagerly awaiting a new title it can be very disappointing. Kotaku was able to get an official statement from Nintendo themselves. Here is what the Big N has to say about the shipping fiasco:
Nintendo makes every effort to make sure its games and systems are available at retail stores nationwide on launch day. Sometimes, because of the variables of shipping, different retailers receive their shipments on different days. Fire Emblem Awakening can be purchased right now from the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS.
It looks like currently there isn’t naught consumers can do, but either sit on their thumbs or purchase the game from EShop. Keep memory space in mind though, as the digital download of Fire Emblem will cost you a whopping 1.5 gb of your precious memory space.
This comes straight on the back of the news that various GameStops won’t be getting the promised character art book that was supposed to be a pre-order exclusive, the only reason many pre-ordered with the store in the first place.
Man it seems that us Fire Emblem fans just can’t catch a break ‘ey?
