Free League To Design Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition
White Wolf Entertainment is currently at work on the fifth edition of an RPG classic, Vampire: The Masquerade. Today they revealed Swedish publisher Free League will be working on designing the look of the book. Art Director Mary Lee and graphic designer Tomas Arfert are said to be pursuing a “neo noir” feel.
Free League welcomes the challenge. Says CEO Tomas Härenstam, “Vampire has always pushed the limits of what a roleplaying game can be, and V5 is no different. The rich World of Darkness universe lends itself really well to exploring new takes on art and design, and that’s a great opportunity for us when we work on the layout. This will be an RPG book that truly stands out.”
“I’m very excited to present [Free League] with the challenge to craft an edition of Vampire that looks as different from ‘normal’ RPG’s as the very first edition did when it launched the World of Darkness almost 30 years ago,” adds Martin Ericsson, Lead Storyteller and CD of White Wolf.
Since Free League has only begun work on the layout, Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition won’t be available for sale until this fall. But you can preorder the book starting tomorrow. “Midday GMT on Saturday the 28th of April” are their exact words, “with shipping starting from August with the first release, the core book, available in stores from September.”
