God Game Crest Updated With Monuments And More
A developer in Sweden who goes by Eat Create Sleep has released an update to their god game Crest, currently out in Steam Early Access. Crest is a literal religion simulator where you are a deity who must influence your followers through issued commandments. The game is a work in progress, but as of today it’s got these new elements:
- Monuments: Your followers are now able to build monuments to commemorate you. Each monument consists of three different tiers, each boosting esteem of your followers.
- Remnants of the world: Slowly degrading ruins, areas paved with skeletons of previous wars or hunting sprees – the world remembers your actions now more visually.
- Event notifications: A customizable bulletin board informs you about everything that happens in the world to give you a much better overview.
- Storybuilder: Reminisce over your past playthrough by reading individually built stories of your world’s history.
- Lots of general improvements on performance & balancing
Of course lording over millions of semi-intelligent creatures with free will isn’t so easy, and just like in real life, they can misinterpret your directions in a wild variety of ways. One player says “When I asked my followers to strike back against those murderous lions, they somehow thought I meant them to destroy all resources near them and kill all followers living in the jungle. The extinction was quick.”
Another player, who goes by Dictor D. Dankenstein, had this happen: “My largest city starved to death despite producing a ton of food because its high priest decided to interpret the commandment “Give food to the hungry” as “Sail out to the sea and throw all of our food to the fish to please our god.” I didn’t have the influence to stop it until it was already too late.”
Think you can do better? Prove it…Crest will remain in Early Access until sometime in the first quarter of 2018, when the final build will be completed.
