GTA Online to have microtransactions
Players with early access to the upcoming GTA Online has revealed to Eurogamer about the game’s microtransactions.
Ranging from £1.99 to £13.49, players will be able to buy in-game cash to fund their online multiplayer experience in GTA Online.
- $100,000 Red Shark Cash Card – £1.99
- $200,000 Tiger Shark Cash Card – £3.49
- $500,000 Bull Shark Cash Card – £6.99
- $1,250,000 Great White Shark Cash Card – £13.49
The details comes from a player with early access to the yet released multiplayer component of GTA V, which will be made available to all players who bought GTA V on October 1st 2013 for free.
GTA Online will take place in the same world as GTA V but the cost of commodities between the two components will vary.
A car in single player may cost $1,000,000 but will only retail in multiplayer for as low as $150,000. This goes the same for property prices where the most expensive piece of land which players can buy in multiplayer will only cost $400,000. However, players can only own one piece of property in GTA Online.
While cars and properties are cheaper, weapon mods and vehicle mods are more expensive. Players will also have to rank up before they unlock more weapon mods.
This implies that even the “cash rich” in GTA Online will not have much to spend on if they do not rank up as players start out with the option to only buy a pistol and a single set of tyres.
Full details about GTA Online is expected to be revealed prior to the launch on October 1st 2013.
GTA V is available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
