Halo 5: Master Chief “Dies” in New Live-Action Video
Xbox and 343 Industries have released a new extended live-action TV spot for Halo 5: Guardians. It’s done in the form of an announcement from the UNSC that Spartan 117, aka the Master Chief, has perished in battle. The news then reaches across the galaxy, and many are deeply affected and saddened by the news. It adds another level of intrigue to the upcoming game. The new video is available in the player below.
The video originally debuted on Sunday Night Football. What is interesting is that previous material for the game have shown that Master Chief has been branded as a traitor, and he is being hunted by Jameson Locke. It makes one wonder if perhaps his presumed death is what brings about this outcome. Is the UNSC corrupt? Are there elements in the UNSC that intentionally betrayed and possibly framed Master Chief. It is hard to believe Master Chief has gone bad at this point.
What we do know about the game is that Spartan Locke is charged with hunting down Master Chief after peace is shattered when colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked. Master Chief is apparently blamed for these attacks, so Locke has to hunt him down and solve a mystery that threatens the entire galaxy. Perhaps Master Chief’s apparent death is what triggers the attacks on the colony world, or it’s a part of a bigger conspiracy.
The video is definitely slickly made and directed as a live-action video game promo. Halo 5: Guardians arrives on October 27. The game will be available exclusively for Xbox One.
