Hanna-Barbera Titles Getting Reboot At DC Comics
DC Comics has gone through a lot of reboots lately, but this one may take the cake. In case you didn’t know, DC Comics has been making comics of the legendary Hanna-Barbera characters for quite some time. Including mixing their characters, like Scooby-Doo, with their DC heroes.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, DC has revealed that the entire Hanna-Barbera line is getting a makeover in a big way. Not the least of which is Scooby-Doo and crew becoming Scooby Apocalypse. Artist Jim Lee note:
“I’m a huge Scooby-Doo fan, as I think most people are,” Lee told EW. “I mean, look at these iconic series and they were cultural touchstones for everyone. All my kids know of Scooby-Doo from the various cartoons and live action movies, and we’re in a period where you have people my age that are spending their days thinking about cartoon and sci-fi action movies. It’s a multigenerational obsession at this point, and we just thought it would just be really interesting to take the cartoon version of these characters and see where they would be if we took what existed in the very first iteration of the cartoon and moved it into this day and age.”
Other Hanna-Barbera titles getting the reboot treatment include The Flintstones, Wacky Race Land, and a crossover series called Future Quest, which will combine many of the classic Hanna-Barbera characters and worlds into one story.
