Hideo Kojima Gives Thoughts On His Life
Hideo Kojima has had an interesting few years. Between bringing the true end to the Metal Gear Solid series via Phantom Pain, then slowly getting kicked out of Konami, to then forming Kojima Productions and making its first title Death Stranding, he’s been through a lot. And Kojima acknowledges that.
In fact, while media where exploring his new video game home, they were given a statement that beautifully sums up not only his time at Konami, but his time in video games as a whole. Here is the statement:
“The me that stands here now is the product of the past 53 years of my life. Everything I experienced over 53 years; movies I’ve seen, books I’ve read, music I’ve listened to, games I’ve played, people I’ve met and the 30 years spent in this industry, have formed who I am.
Not one of these things has been without purpose, including my experience creating games at Konami.
I’m embarking on a new challenge with a fresh slate, but I intend to keep pushing the creative envelope until the day I die. I believe my experiences over the past 53 years won’t lead me astray.”
So for Kojima, while may have wanted some of the things to happen like they did, he doesn’t sound better, because he knows his experiences have shaped him into the person he is today. Wise words indeed.
