Home Release of Age of Ultron To Get Extended Cut AND Alternate Ending?
Is it too early to talk about the home release of Avengers: Age of Ultron? Maybe. It depends on the topic of said home release. In this case, the question is about what will be on the home release and how it’ll differ from the version we’re about to get in theaters; to be more specific, the movie’s length and its ending.
To be fair, movies get a bunch of scenes cut out for timing, story’s sake, etc. This usually ends up being around 10-20 minutes of unseen footage. According to a listing from Amazon UK (via Following The Nerd) though (of which you can see a customer email message below), the home release could have not only extended footage but also an alternate ending.
This ties into what Joss Whedon himself said about how his original cut for the movie was three hours long. No doubt scenes he had left in previously will be shown.
However, it’s the alternate ending that has me intrigued. True, I haven’t seen Age of Ultron yet, but whenever an alternate ending gets thrown in, especially since the man who wrote/directed said ending is Joss Whedon, I have to wonder what he thought about doing in regards to ending the film. Whedon is a man not afraid to put in a twist or two.
We’ll keep you posted on what happens, both in regards to the home release and the box office presence Avengers: Age of Ultron has when it arrives May 1st.
