Hugh Jackman Won’t Be Wolverine If Disney/Fox Deal Goes Through
When you think about certain superhero roles in live-action settings, certain actors immediately come to mind. Wonder Woman is Gal Gadot (or Lynda Carter is you saw the TV show), Captain America is Chris Evans, Green Arrow is Stephen Amell, Iron Man is Robert Downey Jr. etc., etc. When you think of Wolverine, the only name to come to mind is Hugh Jackman. For 17 years he’s done the role magnificently, and this year his time on the role ended with Logan.
But, he did throw out a caveat at one time, saying that if he could be on the Avengers, he would put back on the claws. With Disney potentially about to acquire Fox’s movie properties, that possibility is likely. But, according to Jackman, he’s no longer interested.
“It’s interesting, because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great,” he told Collider. “Like, I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head.”
“But it was like, ‘Oh well, that’s not gonna happen,’” he continued, “and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what’s gonna happen, obviously — I was like, ‘Hang on!’ But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there.”
Now, there is a chance that could change, time changes minds and all that. Let’s just hope that his really does change.
