Hyrule Warriors’ 3D Effects Too Much For Original 3DS
If you’re the rare type who finds being able to play in 3D a dealbreaker, it may be time to invest in a New 3DS. Developers seem to be hitting the limits of what the original handheld is capable of, and are starting to limit features to the New 3DS model. One case in point was Xenoblade Chronicles, whose port would only work with the New 3DS’s extra processing power. Now we hear the upcoming handheld version of Hyrule Warriors will have to leave 3D effects behind on the original model.
Hayashi Yosuke, producer of Hyrule Warriors, spoke to the Japanese website 4Gamer about the problem. The page is in Japanese, but Yosuke mentions that since producing the 3D effect requires rendering the same frame twice, the feature had to be cut in order to accommodate the level of action and number of enemies on-screen — which if you’re familiar with this type of game, is a lot.
Yosuke also mentioned the 3DS version would contain all the content of its console version, plus new material based on Wind Waker. He also confirmed amiibo support for the game (which is another thing you’ll need a New 3DS to use).
Hyrule Warriors for 3DS is due to launch sometime in early 2016.
